I have been a member of FabKids for a few months. Fabkids.com is a unique clothing and accessory club for your little girlies! When I first came across the online club I was so excited to get started and purchase my first order for my daughters. The fact that the monthly cost is $39.95 for a a top and bottom was a bit of a let down, but I felt that the added bonus of a hair accessory compensated slightly.
How it works? You log onto FabKids.com and create a "style profile" by taking a quiz. This is in order for the stylists to have a better idea of the type of outfits you and your daughter will like. Each month your daughter will have her "own"styled outfits and you select one for $39.95. Like most online clubs, you do have the option to skip a month should you decide you don't want to spend $39.95 that month; or if there aren't any outfits that are quite right.
The outfits on FabKids are uniquely designed with sometimes radical style choices in mind. The Creative Partner, Christina Applegate states that FabKids "encapsulates everything I believe in for my daughter and want as a mom - celebrating girls and empowering them to express their individuality through their own personal style in a way that builds confidence and lets them shine". This sheds light on the clothing styles, mix and match color patterns, and selections on the site. I think this is a great message they are delivering to girls at a young age because so many (like myself) care what others think!
When both of my daughter's FabKids packages first arrived they were so excited! My 5 year old is all about "fashion" well her version of it anyways, so she could not wait to try on her outfit. My 2 year old cared more about the box than her outfit, but that's typical for the kid. Why spend money on clothes or toys when you can just give her a box right?
The sizes do seem to run slightly small and I was upset at the quality of the material. My daughter wore her outfit and dripped chocolate on her top. After one wash (following the care label) it thinned the material to the point that her top had holes in it. I ordered from FabKids a couple of more times, but soon decided it was best to cancel my membership. They do have a link online to cancel your membership, but when you click the link it gives you a customer service number to call in order to cancel. The customer service representatives are extremely helpful and friendly. They do try and persuade you to stay a member by offering discounts like $10 off or 50% off your next order. I will say, this worked the first time!
But after receiving this month's orders I remain disappointed with the quality of the material. If it is true that "you get what you pay for", this club should be no more than $19.95 a month. The clothes are cute, fun and trendy. Their message is one that I suppport, but not with $39.95 x 2!
